How do subsidies work?

A subsidy partner allocates a budget and number of samples to subsidize, and MedZu provides a 1:1 matching discount up to $15 per test. For example, a $10/test contribution from a subsidy partner leads to a $20 total discount for users ($10 partner contribution + $10 MedZu matching). Current partners contribute anywhere between $5 and $65 per test.

Subsidies are automatically applied during the checkout process if a user’s information matches the town, zip code, state, or other contact information chosen by the sponsoring partner. User-entered coupon codes are also available if you would like to measure the effectiveness of outreach and educational activities.

Low costs

Past subsidy budgets have ranged from $250 to over $150,000 and any amount in between. We can work with you to track past submissions from your area and estimate your community’s future needs.

Sources of funding are flexible as well: while most subsidies are sponsored by towns (frequently with budgets approved by voters), medical providers, private donors, and other entities sponsor current or past subsidies.

Actionable results

Subsidized tick testing improves access to individual risk assessment (i.e. the person bitten by a tick knows what pathogen(s) they may have been exposed to), but it also provides reliable local surveillance data that updates in real time as samples are tested from your area.
