Trap placement tips:
Light bulb and fan should hang 4-6 feet above the ground. This is a good height to catch mosquitoes searching for their next meal.
Shaded areas under a tree or other shade helps protect samples from direct sunlight.
Allow enough space for the trap to sway in the wind without hitting other objects.
As much as possible, place trap 30+ feet from buildings, lights, and heat sources. We want to eliminate “competition” from heat and light sources that might also attract mosquitoes.
If fireflies have a favorite spot to hang out in your yard, that may be a good spot for mosquitoes as well. Both insects like a humid and low-wind area that allows them to hover without being blown around by the wind too much.
